Freixenet releases non-alcoholic sparkling wine range
Spain’s Freixenet has launched a 0% alcohol range of sparkling wines, tapping into the growing market for low- and no-alcohol beverages.
Available in both White (70cl and 20cl) and Rosé (70cl) variants, the white is made from Moscato, while the rosé is a blend of Moscato and Tempranillo.
Both are produced using a low temperature distillation system to preserve the natural aromas of the grapes, and are described as a substitute for the “often much sweeter alternatives” in the non-alcoholic sparkling wine category.
Demand for non-alcoholic beverages has been growing, with larger swathes of the population now choosing to drink less, and a younger generation increasingly shunning alcohol altogether.
Most recently, non-alcoholic spirit company Seedlip announced it was setting up a sister business producing no ABV apéritifs made with grapes.
Æcorn Aperitifs, which will launch in early 2019, are made with English grown grapes, and aromatised with herbs, roots and bitter botanicals. The drink, which will come in three separate flavours and sold in 50cl bottles, is designed to be enjoyed with food.
Freixenet 0% Alcohol Free Sparkling Wine will be available to buy in Tesco at £5 (70cl) and £1.50 (20cl), with other retailers to be announced.
